10% Rule to be Abolished

The Environment Agency has announced an important change to its approach to the subject of plasterboard and gypsum waste that will effectively outlaw their disposal to landfill from 1 January 2009.

The Agency, which has previously allowed a 10% rule (waste comprising less than a 10% volume of gypsum being acceptable) but this rule is about to be abolished.   NFDC members are, therefore, urged to find suitable plasterboard reccling facilities.   An initial list can be found by clicking here.
